JICA helps improve maternal, child health in Hoa Binh

More than 28,000 pregnant women and mothers of under one-year-old children in the northern province of Hoa Binh received Maternal and Child Health handbooks in 2012 under a project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Theprovincial Health Department, in conjunction with JICA, held a workshopon May 3 to share experience in the implementation of the project in2012 and work out plans for 2013.

In the 2011-2012period, the project organised training courses on the contents and howto use the handbooks for health workers at provincial, district andcommune levels from Hoa Binh city and six districts of Tan Lac, LuongSon, Cao Phong, Lac Thuy, Lac Son and Ky Son.

In2013, four more districts - Da Bac, Mai Chau, Kim Boi and Yen Thuy -will benefit from the project. JICA will also provide target communeswith health equipment.-VNA

Brain-dead organ donor helps save six lives

Free medical checkups provided for border residents
