A document that will for the first time regulate cooperation between the judiciary and the executive was signed in Hanoi on March 31.
Signatories to the three chapters and 17 articles were Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Supreme People’s Court Chief Judge Truong Hoa Binh and Supreme People’s Procuracy Director General Tran Quoc Vuong.
Coordination between the judiciary and the executive was of great significance and would “help maintain good social order and law enforcement.” Dung said at the signing ceremony.
Although coordination between the Government and the two legal agencies was well established, it had yet to meet the requirements of Viet Nam ’s development, he said.
This made its further consolidation an imperative.
“The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a State of the people, by the people and for the people.”
“Each body has its specific function, yet they must coordinate in the implementation of their legislative rights, law enforcement and the judiciary. Coordination between them is written in the law and it is also practised between agencies in the political system,” Dung said.
Binh and Vuong pledged to turn the intent of the documents into reality.
Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the Government Office said Article 2 of the 1992 Vietnam Constitution and Article 40 of the Government Organisations Law regulated coordination between the judiciary and the executive.
“But this is the first document to detail the cooperation between the Government, the court and the procuracy,” he said./.
