Lam Dong fines company for illegally discharging wastewater

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has imposed an administrative penalty of 425 million VND (18,700 USD) on Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Co., Ltd (Acom) for illegal sewage discharge.
Lam Dong (VNA) – The CentralHighlands province of Lam Dong has imposed an administrative penalty of 425million VND (18,700 USD) on Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Co., Ltd (Acom) forillegal sewage discharge.

In a raid last month, the province’senvironmental police force discovered Acom was dumping wastewater that did notmeet water-quality standards with the level of BOD5 over five times higher thanthe accepted limit.

The company’s sewer was not connected toany treatment system while it did not operate environment protection facilitiesproperly or on a regular basis as required by regulations.

Lam Dong also ordered the firm to removethe illegal pipelines for waste disposal and come up with solutions to copewith the water pollution it caused.-VNA

Ministry of Home Affairs to apply KPIs in public employee evaluation

Public order crime drops 22.55% in first half

In the field of economic crime, 2,096 cases involving 4,194 suspects were prosecuted in the first half. For corruption and position-related crimes, 370 cases and 1,042 suspects were brought to trial. Meanwhile, police uncovered 11,687 drug-related cases involving 22,863 individuals.
