The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong was selected to hold “The 1 st Festival of Vietnam-ASEAN UNESCO Heritages”, scheduled for the end of the year.
The choice was made by the festival’s steering committee at a meeting on April 5 between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from cities and provinces home to the heritages, and relevant agencies in Hanoi .
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thanh Son, the festival will bring into play Vietnam ’s role in boosting cooperation between ASEAN member countries, and honour and promote the cultural values of the country and the bloc’s heritages.
The event is expected to take place over five to seven days, member countries will take turns hosting it.
ASEAN has numerous heritages recognised by UNESCO as World Heritages. Vietnam has seven tangible and seven intangible heritages.-VNA
