Lang Son reviews 10-year border demarcation, marker planting

The People’s Committee of the northern Lang Son province held a conference on October 11 to review border demarcation and marker planting and the implementation of three legal documents on Vietnam – China mainland border over the past decade.

Lang Son (VNA) – The People’sCommittee of the northern Lang Son province held a conference on October 11 toreview border demarcation and marker planting and the implementation of threelegal documents on Vietnam – China mainland border over the past decade.

Lang Son province has aborderline of 231.7km in 21 communes bordering China’s Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region.

Since 2010, local border guards,militia and public security forces have conducted over 10,300 patrols with morethan 56,600 turns of officers, soldiers and 4,200 residents in border communes takingpart.

Lang Son and Chinese borderguards held 17 joint patrols along a border section of 95.43km.

The province has well conductedexternal affairs with Guangxi, strengthened people-to-people diplomacy inborder areas, seriously implemented legal documents on the Vietnam – Chinamainland border, and promptly discovered and dealt with violations, thus firmlysafeguarding Vietnam’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking at the event, PermanentVice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Council Hoang Van Nghiem asked party committees, administrations, departmentsand agencies at all levels, especially border districts and communes toseriously follow the Party Central Committee’s resolutions on national borderprotection strategy, abide by three legal agreements on the Vietnam – Chinamainland border, the Law on National Borders and relevant laws.

They were required to effectivelyfight cross-border crime, facilitate export-import and immigration activities, improvethe material and spiritual lives in border areas, towards having not any poorhousehold in communes.

At the same time, the provincewill intensify friendship with Guangxi and effectively tap existing bilateralcooperation mechanisms.  

On the occasion, Nghiem presentedcertificates of merit to 21 collectives and 17 individuals in recognition oftheir contributions to border demarcation and marker planting and theimplementation of the three legal agreements./.

Education-training sector preparing for strategic turning point: Minister

Reviewing the sector’s performance in the past five years, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said the scale of the national education system continued to expand across all levels, with more than 24.5 million learners nationwide. Major goals on universal education and literacy were basically achieved, while the proportion of trained workers holding diplomas or certificates reached nearly 30%.

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)

Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel pays courtesy visit to Da Nang
