Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the LaoPeople’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos BounnhangVorachith met and talked in Hanoi on December 20 with former Vietnamesevolunteer soldiers and experts in Laos and the two countries’ younggenerations.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) CentralCommittee Nguyen Phu Trong, leaders of the two Parties and States, 260delegates representing tens of thousands of former Vietnamese volunteers andmilitary experts in Laos and more than 250 young people attended the event.

In his speech, Vorachith recalled the Vietnam-Laos traditionalspecial solidarity founded and fostered by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, KaysonePhomvihane and Souphanouvong, which has become an invaluable common asset ofthe two countries over the past four decades.

He said the Party, State and people of Laos highly valuegreat contributions and sacrifices by Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and expertsduring the Lao revolutionary cause.

The guest vowed to continue protecting and maintaining specialties with the Party, State and people of Vietnam and wished good health toformer Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, experts and families of war heroes, whoare expected to educate young generations about bilateral special ties incelebration for the 70th anniversary of Traditional Day of VolunteerSoldiers in 2019.

Speaking at the event, head of the Liaison Committee ofVietnamese Volunteers and Military Experts, Maj. Gen Huynh Dac Huong, said Vietnamesevoluntary soldiers and Vietnam – Laos fighting alliance have become anextremely important part of the history of Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnamspecial relations.

He promised to continue developing bilateral relations inthe future.

Le Thi Hong Nhung, head of the Students’ Association of the Academyof Finance, said young generations will inherit the tradition of predecessorsto contribute to the development of each country as well as the traditionalfriendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

On the occasion, Vorachith and CPV leader Nguyen Phu Trong presentedgifts to five Vietnamese heroic mothers.-VNA
