Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and extended New Yearwishes to local people in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thach That onFebruary 14, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
Trong expressed his delight at the district’s rapid industrialisationand urbanisation. Last year, its GDP growth rate was 9 percent, and itseconomic structure shifted towards more promising fields, with industryand construction reaching 66.8 percent, trade, services and tourism 18.6percent and agro-forestry-fisheries accounting for 14.6 percent.
He praised the district authorities and residents for activelyimplementing the Party Resolutions, especially those that see theconstruction of modern rural areas and Party building.
According to Trong, the district’s socio-economic achievements havehelped reduce inflation, stabilise the macro-economy and ensure socialwelfare as set by the Party.
The Party leader alsoasked district authorities and residents to enhance solidarity, developcraft villages, industry and services to accelerate industrialisationand modernisation, in combination with protecting the environment,contributing to building a prosperous, modern and civilised Hanoi .
