Hanoi (VNA) – Fortune Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank) will be the sponsor of the LPBank Cup 2024, an international football friendly tournament featuring the national teams of Vietnam, Thailand, and Russia per an agreement signed between the bank and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on June 19.

The tournament will take place during the FIFA Days in September this year. It is expected to attract a large audience as it is crucial for the Vietnam national team in their preparation for the 2024 ASEAN Championship (AFF Cup), which will be held at the end of the year.

The participation of two high-caliber teams, namely Russia which ranks 33rd in the FIFA World Rankings and has attended 11 World Cup seasons, and Thailand, one of the top teams in Southeast Asia, will provide Vietnam with valuable experience. The tournament will help Vietnamese players improve their skills and tactics, while giving Vietnamese fans an opportunity to enjoy thrilling matches.

Duong Nghiep Khoi, VFF General Secretary, said that the LPBank Cup 2024 is expected to deliver exciting performances and serve as a quality preparation for the Vietnam national team ahead of AFF Cup 2024.

As planned, all matches of the LPBank Cup 2024 will take place at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi at 8p.m. Vietnam will compete with Russia on September 5 and Thailand on September 10. Russia and Thailand will meet on September 7.

The Vietnam national team, comprising the best-performing players selected by head coach Kim Sang Sik, is expected to gather for training on August 30 to prepare for the tournament./.
