Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin made an official visit to Cambodia from February 19-21, in a bid to further expand bilateral relations between the two countries and stimulate their economic growth.

At meetings with Cambodian leaders, Muhyiddin stated that the two sides possess the potential to enhance their collaboration in the spheres of agriculture, electricity production, education and human resources development.

Malaysia is willing to aid Cambodia in expanding energy production, upgrading infrastructure, and constructing highways, he added.

As part of his trip, Muhyiddin and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon co-chaired a February 21 roundtable conference between the two sides’ business executives to broaden their trade and investment ties.

By late 2013, Malaysia, the third largest investor in Cambodia, had nearly 1,700 businesses investing in the country with a sum of around 2.62 billion USD in banking-finance services. Last year, two-way trade reached 400 million USD.-VNA
