Kuala Lumpur (VNA) Malaysian employers will have to pay the levy for their foreign workers from January 1, 2018.

The Human Resources Ministry on December 20 announced that all employers must pay the levy for new foreign workers as well as those who have renewed their Temporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS).

Strict measures will be taken against employers who fail to comply with regulations set forth with regard to the levy payment of foreign workers.

This is an upbeat sign for foreign labourers in Malaysia as the levy varies between 590 ringgits to 1,860 ringgits (144 USD - 456 USD) a year, depending on different sectors.-VNA
