Kuala Lumpur (VNA) –
The Government of Malaysia is eyeing to put in place a proper policy for foreign workers, said Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

There are many wrong things regarding to the recruitment of foreign workers in Malaysia, the PM was quoted by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) as saying on June 28.

He cited the example of a company being given the rights to bring in overseas workers without undergoing a proper tender process, and making a lot of money along the way.

A proper policy will help address this issue, he said.

He affirmed that Malaysia welcomes skilled foreign workers, especially those in new technology and information technology, to come and live in the Southeast Asian country.

“If the foreigners come with certain skills that we want, we would invite them to stay in this country and even become citizens if they want to,” he said.-VNA
