IUCN and MFF will providenearly 20,000 USD to carry out a project to help local people, focusingon women and young people, to use aquatic products sustainably in themangrove forests of the Xuan Thuy National Park.
According topark director Nguyen Viet Cach, the project will be carried out in 2012to help manage aquatic products in mangrove forests and wetlands in thepark and contribute to implementing a strategy to preserve and developthe area sustainably.
Xuan Thuy National Park has nearly 3,000 ha of mangrove forests and nearly 10,000 ha of wetlands.
Upto one thousand people exploit aquatic products to earn a living inthose areas every day, seriously affecting the ecosystem of the nationalpark./.
