Hanoi will host the first ever conference of overseas Vietnamese worldwide from November 20-22, according to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

The conference, under the theme of “For a community of solidarity and strength, contributing to national construction”, expects to see the participation of 1,000 delegates, including 650 overseas Vietnamese, who represent Vietnamese communities in more than 100 countries and territories over the world.

At a press briefing in Hanoi on July 8, Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Thanh Son stated that the conference represents the spirit of national harmony and solidarity. It will be a forum for the Vietnamese community abroad to contribute their strength and intelligence to their home country’s development.

In addition, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will organise the sixth annual summer camp for young overseas Vietnamese from July 18-August 5.
Over 100 young overseas Vietnamese representatives from 26 countries will return to their homeland to attend the camp.

Themed “Following the footprints of President Ho Chi Minh, the national hero and cultural celebrity”, the summer camp will take the participants to 12 cities and provinces across the country to learn about the life of Ho Chi Minh, visit historical sites and landscapes, and join voluntary activities with young people in the country.

Another much-expected event to take place in Hanoi on August 9 and 10 will be the Congress of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs.

More than 100 overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and representatives of major domestic economic and financial groups will attend to share experiences as well as discuss opportunities in investment, and business in Vietnam and abroad.

According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, those activities are aimed at the Vietnamese community of nearly 4 million people living in over 100 nations and territories worldwide./.
