Thanh Hoa (VNA) - The remains of 20 Vietnamesevolunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos during wartimewere laid to rest at the Dong Tam international martyrs’ cemetery in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on May 8.
The remains were found in Laos and brought back to Vietnamby the provincial Military Command’s search team for martyrs’ remains during the2019-2020 dry season.
Addressing the reburial ceremony, Vice Chairmanof the Provincial People’s Committee Pham Dang Quyen highlighted the significanceof the search for and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts.
Quyen thanked leaders of the Lao Party, authorities,armed forces, and people, especially those in Houaphane province, and expresseda hope that the two sides will continue working closely together to search forand collect the remains of other Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts.
The team has searched for, recovered, and repatriatedthousands of sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs since 1998./.
