Memorial service for General Giap to be held in HCM City

Respect-paying and memorial services for General Vo Nguyen Giap will be held in Ho Chi Minh City at the same time with those in Hanoi, according to an announcement released by the organising board on October 8.

Mourners in HCM City and its surrounding areas will pay respectto the General at the City’s Thong Nhat Hall from 7:30 am on October12. The memorial service will begin from 7:00 am the following day.

GeneralVo Nguyen Giap, who was a former Politburo member, Secretary of theCentral Military Commission, Defence Minister and Commander in Chief ofthe Vietnam People’s Army, passed away on October 4 at the age of 103.

A national funeral will be held for the General in recognition of his great contributions to the nation.-VNA

452 lawmakers, or 94.56% of the total number of deputies present, voted in favour the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, while the amended Excise Tax Law was adopted with 448 out of 454 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 93.72% of the total.
