Mexico City (VNA) – The Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group was introduced in Mexico on September 2, taking on the task of promoting the bilateral cooperation.
The launching ceremony was held by the Mexican Chamber of Deputies on the occasion of the 71 st anniversary of Vietnam ’s National Day (September 2).
President of the group Claudia Corichi Garcia said the parliamentarians will work to boost dialogues and strengthen the multi-faceted relations between the two countries.
They will optimise opportunities from the Trans- Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to realise the formation of a strategic partnership between Vietnam and Mexico .
Both nations share a lot of similarities in history, culture, economics, developments, as well as challenges in national building, she said, adding that Mexico can learn from Vietnam's experience in socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and high economic growth.
The two economies could be supplementary for mutual development, she stressed.
For her part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan said the establishment of the Mexico-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group illustrates the two sides’ interest to boost bilateral friendship and collaboration in the future.
She highly valued the action programme of the group, especially the organisation of the ASEAN Week in October.
The Ambassador also underlined Mexico’s support for Vietnam in the past and at present, and reiterated the sound rapports between the two countries’ parliaments, governments and people.
The upcoming visit to Vietnam by Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos de Icaza along with senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, and ProMexico – Investment Promotion Agency will create a long stride in the over 41-year-old bilateral relations.-VNA
