Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Public Security Sen.Lt.Gen To Lam has proposed the UK Government continue supporting Vietnam in enhancing capacity, information exchange and technical equipment for the fight against organised and cyber crimes.
Lam made the proposal at a January 2 reception for Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the UK Mark Field, who is on working visit to Vietnam.
He wished Mark Field and staff at the UK Embassy in Hanoi a new year of good health, happiness and success, and hoped that the strategic partnership with the European country will reap more practical results.
Lam affirmed that his ministry will work to effectively carry out the Memorandum of Understanding on anti-human trafficking cooperation which was signed between the two governments in November 2018.
He asked the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office to create favourable conditions for law enforcement agencies in the UK and the Vietnamese Ministries of Public Security and Foreign Affairs to realise the agreed contents.
The minister also suggested the UK facilitate the granting of visas to Vietnamese citizens who work legally in the country.
Mark Field, for his part, emphasised that the UK Government always treasures strengthening cooperation with Vietnam.
Hailing the role of the Ministry of Public Security in law enforcement, he expected that the ministry and relevant agencies of the UK will collaborate more to contribute to ensuring social order and national security in each nation.-VNA
