More funding for war veterans’ relatives

The Government has decided to allocate 3 billion VND (140,000 USD) each year to help find jobs for children of war veterans and former soldiers.

The Government has decided to allocate 3 billion VND (140,000 USD) eachyear to help find jobs for children of war veterans and former soldiers.

The decision was made after a recent working session betweenPrime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Central Committee of the VietnamVeterans’ Association (VVA) in Hanoi.

The Government Officealso announced in its Notice No. 222/TB-VPCP that more funding will beallocated to sustain operations of the VVA-sponsored VietnamFriendship Village , in line with the association’s proposal.

The Government also acknowledged the positive results in thecooperation between the government and the VVA Central Committee, whichhelped both sides well perform their functions, complete assigned tasksand contribute to the national socio-economic development as well asnational defence and security.

The Government asked the VVA towork with the Defence Ministry on plans to provide housing assistance toanti-French war veterans on the occasion of the 60 th anniversary ofDien Bien Phu Victory next year.-VNA
