– Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the NA arrived at Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires on April 23 afternoon (local time), beginning an official visit to Argentina.
The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Cecilia Todesca Bocco, Secretary for International Economic Relations at the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship; President of the Argentina-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Maria Rose Martinez; Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay Duong Quoc Thanh; and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina.Read full text

– Many prestigious newspapers in Argentina have highlighted the significance of Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visits to Cuba, Argentina and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay from April 18-28.
The Resumen Latinoamericano published an article by Dr. Ruvislei González Sáez who said the visits demonstrate Vietnam's commitment and wish to enhance multifaceted relations with the three Latin American and Caribbean countries, not only through the parliamentary diplomacy channel but also as part of Vietnam's overall foreign policy of prioritising the deepening of friendship with traditional partners in the region. Read full text

- President Vo Van Thuong attended an event to launch the 2023 National humanitarian Month and mark the 160th anniversary of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 23.
At the event, which was co-organised by the Central Committee of Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the municipal People’s Committee, over 485 billion VND (21 million USD) was raised for the month.Read full text

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a working session with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice on April 22 to review and step up the issuance of two important circulars related to the finance-banking sector.
Discussing the draft circular on debt restructuring and rescheduling, and keeping debt groups unchanged, PM Chinh asked the SBV to continue fine-tuning the document in the direction of expanding the coverage of the circular as well as the duration of implementation in an appropriate manner.Read full text

– Three foreign groups unveiled their plans to pour 3.7 billion USD into Vietnam at the Prime Minister’s meeting with foreign investors in Hanoi on April 22, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Among them, a group from the Republic of Korea is to invest 1.6 billion USD in heavy industry and logistics production; a German investor is eyeing green production using renewable energy with an estimated capital of 1.5 billion USD; and a Japanese investor plans to spend 600 million USD on medical equipment production.Read full text

– Amidst the rapidly increasing number of new cases of COVID-19, the Health Ministry has urged continued efforts to accelerate vaccination against COVID-19, with priority given to groups of high risks of developing serious symptoms and even dying when contracting the virus.
During the week from April 16 – 22, Vietnam counted 12,700 new cases, the highest weekly number since the beginning of the year. The total number of COVID-19 cases so far rose to 11,54,059, with 10,616,725 patients having recovered.Read full text/.
