Praha (VNA) - Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam visited Nachod city, the northeastern province of Hradec Králové, on February 27 at the invitation of Mayor Jan Birke, aiming to bolster local cooperation and economic ties as well as exploring new partnership opportunities.

Mayor Birke expressed his impression on the growing Vietnam-Czech relations. He underscored the significance of its recent elevation to a strategic partnership during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit last January, saying that it opens a new chapter and deepens the traditional relationship and cooperation between the two countries, including locality-to-locality collaboration and people-to-people exchange.

He proposed Ambassador Nam support the promotion of connections between Nachod and Vietnam's localities to promote their strengths and expand investment and business opportunities for both sides' firms.

The mayor hailed efforts and contributions of the Vietnamese community there to the local development over years.

Ambassador Nam emphasised the vital role of locality-to-locality connections and people-to-people exchanges in strengthening bilateral ties. He highlighted the increasing interest of Vietnamese businesses in the Czech market, noting Nachod’s strategic location as a key transit hub in central Europe.

There will be many delegations from Vietnamese localities to have working trips to the Czech Republic in 2025, Nam said, affirming his willingness to closely work with Nachod authorities to arrange trade and investment promotion activities between the two sides.

He urged the mayor and other city leaders to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese living, studying and working in Nachod.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Nam and Mayor Birke co-chaired a business roundtable with city officials and Vietnamese-Czech entrepreneurs.

Nachod authorities presented investment opportunities across various sectors, including heritage conservation, textiles, rubber manufacturing, chemicals, water filtration, brewing, and real estate. Vietnamese business representatives expressed keen interest in real estate and entertainment projects. Both sides agreed to advance cooperation through concrete investment initiatives.

In addition, Ambassador Nam met with the Vietnamese community in Nachod, briefing them on Vietnam’s latest policies and encouraging their continued contributions to both local development and Vietnam-Czech Republic relations./.
