- President To Lam on July 6 offered incense at the temple dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in Long Duc commune, Tra Vinh city in the Mekong Delta province of same name.

At the memorial site, President Lam and his entourage respectfully laid a wreath and burned incense to express their gratitude to the late President, the great leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Vietnamese people and the hero of national liberation. Read full story

- Major media outlets of the Republic of Korea (RoK) continued to highlight the results of the recent visit to the Northeast Asian country by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the invitation of his Korean counterpart Han Duck-soo.

Donga Ilbo run an article, recalling Chinh’s speech at the Asian Research Centre of the Seoul National University, in which he affirmed Vietnam always values its cooperation and exchanges with the RoK while highlighting similarities in culture of the two countries. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 6 ordered efforts be made to achieve an economic growth rate of 6.5 - 7% in the third quarter to secure the best possible results for the entire 2024.

He made the request while chairing the Government’s regular meeting for June and teleconference with the 63 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide. Read full story

- There are factors that strongly drive the growth of Vietnam’s foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction in the second half of this year and there will be interesting surprises waiting ahead, said Chairman of the Vietnam's Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) Prof. Dr. Nguyen Mai.

According to Mai, the economy grew nearly 7% in the second quarter, and also increased in the first half of 2024 against the same period last year. The growth is one of important factors that help Vietnam attract FDI. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a ceremony in Hung Yen on July 7 to announce the northern province's master plan in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 and promote investment in the locality.

Addressing the event, Chinh highly valued the master plan, built with a breakthrough mindset and long-term vision, promoting the locality's advantages, and showing the province's desire for growth and optimising the value of the ancient Pho Hien culture, making a new miracle in the new period. - Scientists have successfully built a model for conserving and developing two endangered orchid species in Vietnam, expected to contribute to biodiversity conservation.

The project on investigating, assessing, and proposing technical processes for conserving and building a conservation and development model for “lan hai chai” (Paphiopedilum callosum (Rchb.f.) Stein) and “lan hai dai cuon” (Paphiopedilum appletonianum (Gower) Rolfe) was carried out by scientists from the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (IEBR) under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. - The better-than-expected growth and a big trade surplus were among the results recorded during the first half of 2024, heard the Government’s regular press meeting held in Hanoi on July 6.

Minister - Chairman of the Government’s Office Tran Van Son, who is also Spokesman of the Government, said that generally speaking, the economy recovered to the pre-COVID-19 level during the first six months and continued the positive trend, with performance improving month over month and quarter over quarter. - Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended the opening ceremony of the Festival for Peace 2024 hosted by the People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Tri at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai Special National Relic Site on July 6 evening.

The event was also attended by representatives from ministries, sectors, Quang Tri province, and foreign embassies in Vietnam, international delegations, veterans, heroic mothers, and heroes of the armed forces. Read full story

- The 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF II – 2024) concluded on July 6 evening in the central city of Da Nang, with 14 awards in two categories presented.

Organisers presented awards in various categories, including the Vietnamese Film Award voted by audiences for a series of animated films and the NETPAC Award for outstanding Vietnamese film. Read full story
