- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Laos, on October 9.

The two leaders noted with pleasure the fine development of the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership and agreed to increase all-level meetings and exchanges. They consented to soon raise bilateral trade to 25 billion USD in a balanced manner by reducing trade barriers, facilitating market access for goods, removing obstacles, and strengthening trade and investment ties. -Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong on October 9 held talks for the first time within the framework of the annual meeting of the two government leaders on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Laos.

At the talks, PM Chinh thanked the Government and people of Singapore for their practical assistance to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi, saying that this is a clear demonstration of the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership as well as the friendship and sharing between the leaders and people of the two countries. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in Vientiane, Laos, on October 9 on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits.

The two leaders expressed their satisfaction to see that the Vietnam - Brunei Comprehensive Partnership has continued to maintain positive development momentum. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh joined leaders from other ASEAN countries in dialogue sessions with representatives from the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), and the ASEAN Youth Organisation, as part of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane on October 9.

At the sessions, PM Chinh underlined the need to strengthen ASEAN unity, describing it as an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority. He highlighted the importance of enhancing ASEAN's adaptability in the face of major global and societal issues, such as war and peace, climate change, resource depletion, and population aging. -Japonica - AAN has become the second Vietnamese rice brand to have entered Japan, with a ceremony held on October 9 to debut the produce.

Addressing the launch, Chargé d’affaires Nguyen Duc Minh at the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan said Vietnamese rice has received high acclaim from demanding markets such as the US, Europe, the Republic of Korea, and Japan, which have increased importing the grain from Vietnam over the past years. - The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) organised a conference in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 9 to launch the Capacity Building for Sustainable and Low-Carbon Rice Innovations in Southeast Asia (CABIN) project. The aim is to promote rice straw management in Southeast Asia in the 2024-2028 period, and low-carbon, sustainable agriculture for the future.

The project, funded by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) covers five the Southeast Asian countries of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
