- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam held a working session with the standing board of the Quang Tri provincial Party Committee on October 16 to review the implementation of the Resolutions of the provincial Party congresses at all levels, socio-economic development, national defence-security, Party and political system building.

Lauding socio-economic achievements made by the provincial Party Organisation, authorities, businesses and residents, Lam underlined the local potential and advantages, particularly its strategic transportation links connecting the North-South and East-West corridors. Quang Tri also holds ample potential for energy development, especially in the realm of clean energy, and boasts favourable land conditions ripe for industrial development. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a delegation of National Assembly deputies of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 16 met with local voters who are officials, business owners, members of the Farmers' Association, representatives of agricultural production and business cooperatives.

The delegation informed the local voters about the planned agenda of the NA's 8th session; reported on the implementation of some policies and laws related to the management, investment, and application of scientific and technological advances in producing, processing, and selling agricultural products over the past nine months. - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a meeting with representatives of organisations and individuals who received the Vu A Dinh Award on October 16, on the occasion of the 25th founding anniversary of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the 15th anniversary of the award.

- Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Chairman of its Commission for Information and Education, hosted a reception for Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Former Members of the Liberation Army of Morocco, in Hanoi on October 16.

The Vietnamese official sincerely thanked El Ktiri for creating favourable conditions for the working visit of a CPV delegation to Morocco from May 29 to June 3, featuring meetings with the leaders of the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Parliament, and political parties in the country, particularly their participation in a workshop on President Ho Chi Minh at the High Commission's headquarters. - The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 2024 - 2029 tenure began its first working session in Hanoi on October 16.

- Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will increase the frequency of flights between Vietnam's southern largest economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok of Thailand from 3 to 4 flights per day starting December 1, using Airbus A321 aircraft.

With this move, the national flag carrier will operate approximately 50 direct flights per week on routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Bangkok. Read full story

- Despite the important role of logistics greening in realising the net-zero emissions goal, the work has faced many difficulties, heard a conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 15.
