Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Party General Secretary To Lam’s article entitled “Promoting Party characteristics in building a law-governed socialist State in Vietnam” brings a breath of fresh air and creates new vitality to the promotion of building and perfecting the Vietnamese rule-of-law socialist State of the people, by the people, and for the people in a faster and more effective manner, commended Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tinh.

Tinh told the press that in the article, the Party leader gave his guiding viewpoints in building and perfecting the law-governed socialist State of Vietnam through the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Party, the role and efforts of grassroots Party organisations, and the revolutionary pioneering and leading role of officials and Party members in implementing Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW issued by the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to build and refine the law-governed socialist State of Vietnam in the new period. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Lao Party General Secretary and State President Thongloun Sisoulith in Kazan, Russia, on October 23 (local time), while there to attend the expanded BRICS Summit.

He congratulated Laos on its successful shouldering of the 2024 ASEAN chairmanship and the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), saying the successes of those events have affirmed that Laos is a responsible member with a more and more important voice in the international community, and contributing to peace, cooperation, and prosperity in the region and the world at large. – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with visiting Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul in Hanoi on October 23, following a welcome ceremony for the latter.

– The 16th international conference on the East Sea opened in Ha Long city of northeastern Quang Ninh province on October 23, seeking ways to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the East Sea.

The event, organised by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), drew the participation of nearly 50 prestigious experts from 23 countries and international organisations, 100 delegates from foreign representative offices in Vietnam and 22 ambassadors. - The second Vietnam-Laos border defence friendship exchange concluded on October 23 with remarkable success.

– The Saigon Co.op Distribution Company Limited (SCD) - a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), and STC Natural Vina Company on October 23 held a hand-over ceremony for goods that will be exported to the US.

The goods, worth about 70,000 USD, are mainly domestically produced and selected by Saigon Co.op, such as dipping sauce, vermicelli, noodles, spices, tea, and coffee. They will be sold at H-mart supermarkets of Hee Chang Group - a famous retail group from the Republic of Korea with more than 30 years of experience in the US market and more than 100 points of sale./. President approves sweeping constitutional, administrative overhauls

The reforms included the NA’s resolution on the amendments and supplements to several articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the revised Law on Organisation of Local Government, and the ordinance amending and supplementing Article 10 of the Population Ordinance.

NA meeting considers personnel affairs

Australia’s capital pushes for deeper ties with ASEAN
