- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 4 affirmed that the outcomes of cooperation between Hanoi and Vientiane vividly demonstrated the traditional, special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

At a reception for Vientiane's Mayor Atsaphangthong Siphandone, who is in Hanoi on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2023), the PM lauded significant contributions by Vientiane to achievements Laos has recorded over the past nearly four decades of reform. Read full story

- Sailing Ship 286-Le Quy Don of the Vietnam Naval Academy left the Nha Trang military port in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on October 4, beginning its journey to Singapore for a friendly visit marking the 50th anniversary of the countries’ diplomatic relations (1973-2023) and 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership (2013-2023).

The journey itself is designated as a training session for trainees to practice sea navigation during long-distance voyage, use weapons and equipment, and deal with real-life situations, among other activities. Read full story

- Vietnam is on the cusp of becoming a major player in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market, according to an article posted on the US website nasdaq.com on October 3.

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on October 4 signed a PM dispatch on implementing urgent and essential tasks and measures to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and prepare for the fourth inspection trip by the European Commission (EC) team.
