Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese Film Days will be heldin Moscow from October 27 to 31 at Illusion Cinema, showcasing five awardwinning movies from Vietnam.

The movies are box-office hits, including Toi Thay Hoa VangTren Co Xanh (I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass), Em Chua 18 (Jailbait),Cuoc Doi Cua Yen (Yen’s Life) My Nhan (The Beauty) and 12 Chom Sao: Ve Duong ChoYeu Chay (Zodiac: 5 Steps of Love).

Director Victor Vu’s I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grassand emerging director Dinh Tuan Vu’s Yen’s Life won top honours at the Vietnam NationalFilm Festival in 2015. Vu’s film, based on best-seller author Nguyen Nhat Anh’sshort story, took home the Golden Lotus for the best movie, while Yen’s Lifewon the Silver Lotus for the best actress, best music, best cinematography andbest production design.

I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass was also listedamong the top 10 outstanding cultural films in Vietnam and it won the best filmaward at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Fujian province, China.

Released in 2015, the film was a cinematic phenomenon at thedomestic box office, earning over 80 billion VND (3.6 million USD).

[Vietnamese movies screened in Russia to mark October Revolution]

Director Vu’s first work, Yen’s Life, grabbed the GrandFestival Prize at the World Premieres Film Festival in the Philippines in 2016.

Jailbait by Le Thanh Son is one of the highest-grossingVietnamese movies, earning a record revenue of 150 billion VND (6.6 million USD)following 16 days of nationwide screening. The movie was screened at the PolishFilm Festival in Gdynia City from September 18-23.

The film festival opening ceremony will be presented bydeputy head of Vietnam’s Department of Cinema Do Duy Anh and producerrepresentative of The Beauty.

The Vietnamese Film Days is being held by the Russian filmstudio, Fest-Film, with support from the Ministry for Culture of Russia, VietnamMinistry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnamese Embassy to Moscow andfederal government state-funded cultural institution-cinematic organisation,Gosfilmofond.

The festival is one of the activities being held under theframework of culture cooperation, promoting the bilateral relationship in thecinematic industry between Vietnam and Russia.

All the movies will be shown with Russian subtitles.-VNA
