The curfew, which bans gatherings of more than five people, will beimposed from 9 pm to 5 am (local time) in Aungmyay Tharzan, ChanayeTharzan, Mahar Aungmyay, Chanmya Tharzi, Pyigyi Tagon and Amarapura.
The riots erupted from July 1 night when hundreds of extremists attacka tea shop in Chanaye Tharzan after its Muslim owner had beenprosecuted for rape. Many motor vehicles and shops were destroyed duringthe unrest.
Police have detained four suspects in the incident.
Currently, situation in the city was under control with schools andmarkets keeping opening, except those of Muslim owners.
The Mandalay police said they are investigating the case and will seriously punish those involved.
The same day, Myanmar President U Thein Sein called on all peopleto avoid incitement to hatred on grounds of nationality. He said theGovernment is doing its utmost for national stability and better socialwelfares.-VNA
