Hanoi (VNA) –
Myanmar authorities have seized large haul of controlled chemicals in its central region of Mandalay, the Central Committee for the Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) said on September 17.

The seizure was made by the Mandalay's anti-narcotic taskforce in Patheingyi township on September 15.

Acting on tip-offs, members of the taskforce intercepted a vehicle carrying the controlled chemicals worth 527.5 million kyats (351,667 USD).

The seized chemicals included 3,750 litres of Acetone worth 112.5 million kyats (75,000 USD), 3,000 litres of Ethyl worth 375 million kyats (250,000 USD) and 1,000 kg of potassium powder worth 40 million kyats (26,667 USD).

The driver was charged under Myanmar’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Last month, Myanmar relevant forces seized 762kg of methamphetamine worth over 19 billion kyat (12.6 million USD) along with other addictive substances in the eastern state of Shan and Bahan and Sanchaung cities in Yangon region./.
