After attending a welcome dinner party hosted by the Ministry ofForeign Affairs, Speaker of the Myanmar Parliament U Shwe Mann met withPrime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
During their meeting, the Speaker expressed his desire to revise bordertrade regulations of both countries in order to facilitate traders interms of business deals and product delivery.
He said themove is in accordance with Thailand’s intention to increase bordertrade value with Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and his country. Ifthings are done as planned, Thailand will be able to increase tradevalue along the Thai-Myanmar border areas by 20 percent, or around 1trillion THB per year.
The Speaker also expressed hisgratitude to the Thai Premier over the migrant worker issue, thankingThailand for extending registration period for migrants for one moreyear, adding that all Burmese workers in Thailand are happy with the300-THB minimum wage policy.
Before ending the discussion, he praised Thailand for its stability, prosperity, and most importantly democracy.-VNA
