Hanoi (VNA)– Myanmar’s trade turnover with member countries of the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN) hit 9.6 billion USD in the 2016-2017 fiscal year,which ended in March.
Of the total, Myanmar’sexport turnover to the regional trade partners reached 3.09 billion USD, whileits import value was 6.51 billion USD, according to Myanmar’s Ministry ofCommerce.
Thailand wasMyanmar’s biggest trade partner in ASEAN, with turnover of 4.27 billion USD. Itwas followed by Singapore with 2.96 billion USD, Malaysia with 980 million USD,Indonesia with 827 million USD, Vietnam with 494 million USD and thePhilippines with 56 million USD.
However, Myanmar’strade value with Brunei, Laos and Cambodia was below 3 million USD.
Data showed that inthe 2015-2016 fiscal year, Myanmar’s trade with the ASEAN countries was worth10.43 billion USD, down from 12.6 billion USD in 2014-2015.
Myanmar’s main goodsshipped to the regional nations were agricultural products, seafood, mineralsand industrial goods while the country imported consumer goods, electronicproducts, materials and automobile components.-VNA
