Beijing (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed his support of closer ties between China’s Guangdong province and Vietnamese localities and enterprises at his meeting with the head of Guangdong’s People’s Congress on December 26.

The meeting was held after the Vietnamese top legislative leader arrived in Guangdong as part of his official visit to China.

Speaking to Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong provincial People's Congress Huang Longyun, Chairman Hung noted the important role that Guangdong plays in the Vietnam-China relationship because of the geographic proximity and time-honoured close ties.

The province was where President Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese revolutionaries once lived and carried out revolutionary activities in the past, Hung said, expressing his thanks to the host administration for preserving Vietnam-related historical sites.

The top legislator also updated the host on the outcomes of his talks and meetings with Chinese leaders in the framework of his visit to China, affirming that Vietnam has continuously given priority to developing the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, including the sustainable development of the practical and effective relations between their localities.

The Party, the State and the NA of Vietnam will do their utmost to facilitate Chinese investment in Vietnam, Hung underlined.

The NA Chairman said the fruitful political, economic, cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and the province has contributed to the friendship and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.

He expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue realising the joint agreements reached by leaders of the two nations’ Parties and States while furthering the exchanges in economics – trade, education – training, culture, sports, and tourism.

The NA Chairman took the occasion to offer sympathy to the Chinese government and people over the recent landslides disaster in Shenzhen.

The Chairman of Guangdong provincial People's Congress underlined the all-round cooperation ties between his province and Vietnamese localities, especially in economics and trade.

He said the Guangdong people and enterprises have nursed a traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation with the people and enterprises of Vietnam.

He briefed the guests on the local socio-economic development, adding that the locality is working with Vietnam’s Hai Phong City on building a trade complex in the port city.

The same day, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung visited the relic site of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth Association, the Monument to Chinese leader Sun Zhongshan and offered incense at the grave of Vietnamese martyr Pham Hong Thai in Guangzhou.
