National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese NA left London for Hanoi on Dec. 10, concluding a three-day official visit to the UK.
Before leaving, NA Chairman Hung laid a wreath at the Memorial to Uncle Ho in London .
One day earlier, the Vietnamese top legislator and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, co-chaired a Vietnam-UK business forum which attracted more than 300 businesses from both countries.
Addressing the forum, NA Chairman Hung stressed that the forum aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ businesses in all aspects, especially economics, trade, culture and education.
He said that Vietnam is completing its market economic institution with the focus on creating an equal environment for competition; boosting administrative reforms and human resource development in combination with scientific and technological application; and building synchronous infrastructure, especially for transport system and in urban areas.
In addition, the country is also focusing on maintaining a high economic growth and ensuring social welfares, he added.
These are necessary conditions for consolidating and strengthening the strategic partnership with the UK , he noted.
Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese NA will always prioritise the establishment of a legal framework that provides the best conditions for UK businesses while investing in Vietnam , not only in economics and trade but also in culture, education, health, and science and technology.
He expressed his belief that on the foundation of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership as well as the potential of each nation, the support and high determination of the two countries’ leaders, the Vietnam-UK friendship will further develop in the future.
Vietnamese and UK businesses will get more chances to increase import-export turnovers and step up investment activities in the coming time, he noted.
Sharing Chairman Hung’s view, Prince Andrew said he was pleased with the participation of a large number of Vietnamese and UK businesses in the forum, considering it vivid evidence of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
He expressed his wish that through the forum, the two countries’ businesses will reach more cooperative agreements, thus contributing to consolidating and fostering the friendship between the UK and Vietnam . /.
