(Source: VNA) New Delhi (VNA) – Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen ThiKim Ngan met General Secretaryof the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Sitaram Yechury on December 9 as part of her trip to India.
The NA Chairwoman, who isalso a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), informed herguest that the Communist Party of Vietnam is drastically implementing theresolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
She noted Vietnam’s policy onmaintaining a reasonable growth rate while transforming its growth modeltowards quality and sustainability, stabilising macro-economy, curbinginflation and ensuring social security and welfare.
Concerning external relations,she said Vietnam will continue the external policy of independence, self-relianceand diversification of relations. The country will push ahead withinternational economic integration while boosting friendly and cooperative tieswith traditional friends including India.
Highlighting the strongdevelopments in the relationship between the two countries and theestablishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership on September, 2016,Chairwoman Ngan affirmed Vietnam respects India’s role and position and hopesto strengthen relationship with political parties in India, including theCPI-M.
CPI-M General SecretarySitaram Yechury hailed the development of India-Vietnam ties and affirmed theCPI-M would work to make positive contributions to promote the India-Vietnamcomprehensive strategic partnership.
On the East Sea issue,General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said India supports negotiations and thesettlement of disputes via peaceful measures based on respect for internationallaw.
Earlier the same day,Chairwoman Ngan visited the Indian Parliament Building and attended as anobserver a session of the Indian House of People and Council of States.
She also laid flowers at theMahatma Gandhi Monument.-VNA
