National Convention Centre ready to host 13th Party Congress

Preparations for the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi were completed on January 21, just four days before the opening of the event. The Congress will take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2. With the motto “Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Creativeness - Development”, it is a political event to map out future orientations, thus helping to boost the country’s renewal, integration and development cause comprehensively and synchronously. Streets of Hanoi have been embellished with national and Party flags, banners, and posters to welcome the event. In Vietnam, during important events of the nation or the Party, people often hang the national and Party flags to celebrate them. At the same time, preparations for the Congress at the National Convention Centre have been completed. The centre, the leading and largest conference centre in Vietnam, will be the venue of the congress. It is located at the intersection of Thang Long Avenue and Pham Hung Road. The decorations for the upcoming 13th National Party Congress at the National Convention Centre have been completed. The Congress, scheduled to take place from January 25 to February 2, has the theme “Strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system into purity and strength; rousing the will and determination for national development and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc in combination with the power of the era; continuing to comprehensively and synchronously accelerate the cause of reform; constructing and firmly safeguarding the Fatherland and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; and striving to turn Vietnam into a developed, socialist-oriented nation by the middle of the 21st century.” (Photo: VietnamPlus)

All roads leading to the National Convention Centre have been adorned with a large number of red banners which are similar to the national and Party flags. In Vietnam, during important events of the nation or the Party, people often hang the flags to celebrate them. Agencies, units, hospitals, schools and households were requested to fly the national flag from January 15 to February 14 during the time of the Congress. Many of national and Party flags, together with banners and posters have livened up the streets of Hanoi. With the motto “Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Creativeness - Development”, the 13th National Party Congress will review not only the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th Congress but also 35 years of implementing the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Political Platform, 10 years of implementing the amended Political Platform (supplemented and developed in 2011) and the National Socio-economic Development Strategy 2011-2020; setting out socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025 (the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification); and determining goals and orientations to 2030 (the 100th founding anniversary of the Party) and a vision for national development to 2045 (the 100th founding anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) (Photo: VietnamPlus)

Up to 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide will attend the 13th National Party Congress, up nearly 80 delegates from the 12th Congress and the largest number among the 13 congresses. The event is scheduled to take place in the capital city from January 25 to February 2. Among the delegates, 13.99 percent are women, and 11.03 percent are ethnic minorities. Politburo member and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam holds the great historical responsibility for the Fatherland, people and nation not only in the next five years, but also in the following decades and for future generations. The 13th National Party Congress will take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2, with the participation of up to 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide. The article underlined that decisions and resolutions adopted at the congress will have a major impact on the nearly 100-million-strong country, which is developing dynamically along the socialist direction. Many more flowers and ornamental trees will be seen at public spaces around the National Convention Centre, as well as along main streets leading to the centre, Ba Dinh district, and the city centre. Parks, gardens, and gateways to the capital will also get a facelift. The Hanoi Urban Environment Company (URENCO) will conduct a city-wide clean-up from January 16 to 23 and on January 30, Director Nguyen Huu Tien said. It also plans to install 100 portable toilets with improved signage at public recreational areas, which will also be cleaned regularly.
