Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 4,755 traffic accidents occurred nationwide in the first quarter of this year, resulting in 2,598 deaths and 3,198 injuries, according to the Office of National Traffic Safety Committee.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents, fatalities, and injuries declined by 27.8%, 1.9%, and 38.3%, respectively.
The majority of incidents took place on roadways, with 4,710 accidents causing 2,565 deaths and 3,192 injuries. Meanwhile, 30 accidents were recorded on railways, and 15 occurred on inland waterways.
No maritime accidents were reported during the period.
In March alone (from February 2 to March 14), Vietnam recorded 1,312 traffic accidents, resulting in 730 deaths and 886 injuries. This reflects a year-on-year decrease of 23.14% in accidents, 4.82% in fatalities, and 29.4% in injuries./.

Sharp drop seen in traffic accidents in first two months
In the first two months of 2025 (from December 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025), the total number of traffic accidents nationwide stood at 3,443, with 1,868 deaths and 2,312 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2024, accidents went down by 1,436 (29.43%), fatalities by 189 (9.19%), and injuries by 1,616 (41.14%).
