Hanoi (VNA) – The Indonesian Agency Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics reported that a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Maluku province in eastern Indonesia on April 1.

The earthquake occurred at 5:15 pm, with its epicenter located 93 km northeast of Maluku Barat Daya district and a hypocenter at a depth of 157 km beneath the seabed. No tsunami warning has been issued.

Indonesia, an archipelagic nation home to 127 active volcanoes, frequently experiences earthquakes due to its location within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active zone prone to tectonic activity./.
