New supply system to ease water shortage in Tien Giang

The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has put into operation a water system supplying clean water to 45,000 locals in coastal Tan Phu Dong district.

Tien Giang (VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has put into operation a water system supplying clean water to 45,000 locals in coastal Tan Phu Dong district.

The system includes 11,000m OD450 high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) that connects to OD800 HDPE in the Dong Tam water station, running through the three communes of Thanh Tri, Long Vinh and Long Binh in Go Cong Tay district as well as the riverbed of Cua Tieu river before reaching Tan Phu Dong district.

It was s constructed at a cost of over 68 billion VND (3,05 million USD), with a capacity of supplying 11,000 cubic meters of water per day and night.

The operation of the system is expected to ease water shortage in dry season in the areas affected by serious drought and saltwater intrusion in Tan Phu Dong and Go Cong Tay districts.-VNA
