Nguyen Van Nen nominated candidate for Secretary of HCM City Party Committee

The Politburo has appointed Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary and Office Chief of the Party Central Committee, to join the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and its Standing Board in the 2020-2025 tenure.

HCMCity (VNA) – The Politburo has appointed Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary andOffice Chief of the Party Central Committee, to join the Party Committee of HoChi Minh City and its Standing Board in the 2020-2025 tenure.

Thedecision was announced at a conference on October 11.

Underthe decision, the Politburo also nominated him as a candidate for the positionof Secretary of the Party Committee of HCM City in the 2020-2025 tenure. Nen isrelieved from the post of Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office to takeup the new job.

ThePolitburo said the assignment of a key leading position in such a large andimportant Party organisation like Ho Chi Minh City ahead of the city’s PartyCongress has been considered thoroughly, in order to meet the requirements ofthe city in the new period, as well as the need to ensure the inheritance anddevelopment of the contingent of Party cadres.

Politburomember and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan noted that Nen hasreceived proper training and held many positions from the grassroots up tocentral levels. He used to be a member of the Party Committee of Tay Ninhprovince and Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Councilof Tay Ninh’s Go Dau district. He then served as Secretary of the PartyCommittee of Tay Ninh, and later standing deputy chairman of the SteeringCommittee for Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands); Deputy Chairman of the PartyCentral Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education;Minister-Chairman of the Government Office; and Chief of the Party CentralCommittee’s Office.

Nenis a member of the Party Central Committee in the 11th and 12th tenures, and Secretary of the Party Central Committee in the 12th tenure./.
