Hanoi (VNA) – Fifteen outstanding Lao students in Vietnam were honoured duringa ceremony in Hanoi on September 5. 

Co-hostedby the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations’ Vietnam-Laos FriendshipAssociation (VLFA) and the Viet – Laos Connectivity Jsc company, the event wasmeant to celebrate the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties(September 5) and the Year of Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Friendship andSolidarity.

Speakingat the event, VLFA President Tran Van Tuy described education-trainingcooperation as one of the priorities for bilateral comprehensive partnership,adding that the VLFA organised trips for Lao students to relic sites attachedto the Lao revolution in Vietnam, thus raising their understanding about theircountry’s revolutionary cause.

Hehoped that Lao students will further strive to reap outstanding academicachievements and contribute to strengthening traditional friendship andcomprehensive partnership between the two peoples.

Onbehalf of the Lao students, Phoumphithah Oupasueth expressed gratitude for theVietnamese Party, State and people for assisting them in Laos, and committed todoing the best to further reinforce special relations between the twocountries. -VNA

Hanoi resident detained for anti-State accusations

Police of Hanoi on January 23 reported that they have detained and launched legal proceedings against Dau Thi Tam, a 45-year-old resident of the city’s Hoang Mai district for allegedly abusing democratic freedoms to harm the interests of the State under Article 331 of the Criminal Code.
