The Mexican House of Representatives on September 12 held a ceremony to debut the Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group (VMFPG).
Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Thanh Tung and Deputy Director General of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Dinh Dang Quang, who is on a working visit to Mexico , attended the event.
General Secretary of the Mexican Labour Party, Senator Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, has been selected as the group’s president.
In his opening remarks, Senator Gutierrez praised Vietnamese people’s traditions in fighting foreign invaders to defend the fatherland.
He highly appreciated Vietnam ’s renewal cause initiated by the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986 as well as its great achievements in many realms, stressing the country’s target to become a modern industrialised country.
The senator laid special emphasis on the need to enhance the multifaceted relationship between the two countries, saying that the group’s objective is to contribute to promoting the linkage, for the benefit of the two countries’ people.
Ambassador Tung and VNA Deputy Director General Quang thanked the Mexican Government and people for their valuable support to Vietnam during its path of national liberation and current national construction.
They voiced their belief that the group will bring the cooperative relations, mutual trust and understanding between the two countries to a higher level.
Both acknowledged the strong developments in the Vietnam-Mexico cooperative ties over the past years, especially in trade.
They used the occasion to introduce Vietnam ’s socio-economic and political situation, and invited the group’s members to visit Vietnam as soon as possible.-VNA
