Hanoi(VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen PhuTrong hosted a reception in Hanoi on November 9 for Chilean President MichelleBachelet who is on a two-day State visit to Vietnam.

President Bacheletlauded Vietnam’s achievements and experience in national construction anddevelopment, as well as the country’s prestige and position in the region andthe world.

She briefed her hoston Chile’s situation as well as the outcomes of her working sessions withVietnamese leaders, while affirming her determination to promote solidarity,friendship and cooperation between the two countries in all fields, thus makingbilateral ties deeper, more practical and effective.

Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly valued the whole-hearted support that left-wingedand progressive parties as well as people of Chile have given to Vietnam duringits struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past as well ascurrent national construction and defence.

He briefed his guest onmajor information of Vietnam as well as outcomes in implementing the 12th PartyCongress’s resolutions.

The Party chief showedhis delight at the growing economic, trade and investment cooperation betweenthe two countries, hoping that Vietnam and Chile would become key factors infostering connectivity between the ASEAN Community and other integrationmechanisms in South America of which Chile is a member.

The draft resolution to amend and supplement certain articles of the 2013 Constitution comprises two main articles.
