Jakarta (VNA) – Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, engaged in diplomatic and humanitarian activities in Indonesia on March 10-11 as part of the leader’s State visit to the country.
On March 10, Ly met with Rany Khem, spouse of ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, where she introduced key initiatives of the ASEAN Women’s Community in Hanoi (AWCH).
She proposed fostering closer ties between female diplomats at the ASEAN Secretariat and AWCH members, facilitating cultural exchanges and experience-sharing to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen international friendship.
Both sides underscored the importance of cultural cooperation in promoting ASEAN solidarity.
The following day, Ly visited the Indonesian Child Cancer Care Foundation (YKAKI) in Jakarta, where she met with child patients, and presented gifts to the children and the centre.
She commended YKAKI’s relentless dedication to supporting children with cancer, highlighting the need for greater community and organisational efforts to improve their treatment conditions.
She extended her heartfelt encouragement to YKAKI’s medical staff, caregivers, and volunteers, urging them to continue their compassionate work so that no child has to face cancer alone.
Founded in 2006, YKAKI has been providing comprehensive care for children with cancer across Indonesia. With seven centres nationwide, the organisation has supported nearly 3,800 child patients in Jakarta alone, offering hope and strength to children and their families./.
