Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Changi Airport on March 11 afternoon, beginning a three-day official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) Lawrence Wong.

The Vietnamese delegation was welcomed by Singaporean Minister of Manpower Tan See Leng, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam, Chief of Protocol of the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chia Wei Wen, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh, and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore. - Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Jakarta on March 11, concluding their three-day state visit to Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat.

- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam had a meeting with Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia, on March 11 as part of his state visit to the Southeast Asian country.

Lam expressed his pleasure to visit Indonesia – a beautiful nation with rich and diverse culture, and to witness the remarkable progress the Indonesian people have made in various fields. Read full story

- Party General Secretary To Lam met with Speaker of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia Puan Maharani in Jakarta on March 11 as part of the Vietnamese leader’s ongoing state visit to the Southeast Asian country.

Warmly welcoming the Party chief, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, Maharani highlighted the significance of the visit, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Read full story

- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam met with Speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (Senate) of Indonesia Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin in Jakarta on March 11 morning, within the framework of his state visit to the country.

Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin expressed his joy over the positive developments in the bilateral relationship, especially the elevation of their partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on this occasion. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a directive that outlines key tasks and measures for flexible, timely, appropriate, and effective response to global and regional developments, ensuring economic growth, macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and major economic balances this year and beyond.

The directive said the Government has ordered ministries, agencies, and loalities to closely monitor international and regional trends while implementing innovative and decisive measures to strengthen diplomatic, political, security – defence, economic, trade, and investment relations with partners, particularly with major countries. - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has highlighted the success of the 15th NA so far with eight plenary sessions and a record number of nine extraordinary sessions, urging all NA agencies to speed up preparations for the upcoming ninth plenary session.

Addressing the 43rd meeting of the NA Standing Committee on March 11, the top legislator said that the ninth extraordinary session, which completed a substantial amount of work in just 6.5 days, was a testament to the commitment and efforts of the Government, the NA’s Council for Ethnic Affairs, and related agencies. - Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.9 million international visitors in February, with over 468,000 from the Republic of Korea (RoK) and nearly 380,000 from China, together accounting for more than 44% of the total.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), domestic tourism also thrived, with an estimated 11 million visitors in the month, including 3.8 million overnight stays. Read full story

- The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, themed "Buon Ma Thuot – Destination of World Coffee," opened on March 10 in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasised that the festival not only honour Vietnamese coffee—symbolising creativity and success—but also serves as a globally significant forum where coffee producing and consuming nations come together to shape a shared vision for a sustainable coffee industry. - The fresh opening of the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda Festival in the northern province of Bac Giang has been marked with the announcement of the Prime Minister’s decision to recognise the pagoda’s statues of the three patriarchs of the Truc Lam Buddhist sect as a national treasure.

Dating back to the 19th century, the statuary comprises three wooden figures representing the first three patriarchs of the zen sect, namely Tran Nhan Tong, Phap Loa, and Huyen Quang. The statue of Tran Nhan Tong stands 0.85m tall and weighs approximately 60kg, while those of Phap Loa and Huyen Quang range from 0.83m to 0.85m in height, each weighing around 65kg./. NA Chairman chairs meeting on preparations for 16th NA’s first session

PM’s Russia visit yields substantive outcomes: Deputy FM

Vietnamese naval ship completes mission at Kakadu Exercise 2026

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.

Vietnamese, Philippine foreign ministers hold phone talks

They agreed to further elevate cooperation across all areas, including politics, diplomacy, defence, security, economy, and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (July 12, 1976 – 2026).

95th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union marked in Laos
