At the meeting, the Party chief said that his visit to Singapore aims to deepen the Vietnam-Singapore relationship that was established over half a century ago and tested over time, towards developing the relationship in a more intensive, effective and practical manner in all areas.

In the framework of talks with Singaporean leaders, the General Secretary will continue to propose Singapore pay attention to and create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work stably in Singapore, actively integrate and contribute to the host country’s development and the relationship between the two countries.

On this occasion, Lam praised the achievements of the Vietnamese community in Singapore and sincerely thanked them for their contributions to the homeland. He also informed the community about Vietnam's situation and development goals in the coming time.

He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community abroad in general, and the community in Singapore in particular, will continue to unite and strive to contribute to achieving these groundbreaking objectives.

The Party chief highly appreciated the opinions, proposals, and recommendations raised by representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community. He urged them to stay united and work together to build a thriving community, promote the beauty of Vietnam to international friends, particularly Singaporeans, and serve as a solid bridge in the relationship between the two countries.

He emphasised that wherever they are, the community should always nurture their sentiments towards the homeland with the pride and responsibility, and leverage their knowledge and scientific expertise to make effective contributions to the country.

Lam asked the embassy to continue effectively promote the community and citizen protection work in accordance with Resolution 36-NQ/TW, Directive 45-CT/TW, and Conclusion 12-KL/TW of the Politburo regarding overseas Vietnamese affairs, especially when the Vietnamese community in Singapore has continuously grown.

The embassy should become a common home to connect the community and facilitate administrative procedures for the community's members, the Party leader said./.
