Party General Secretary begins state visit to Cambodia

During the visit, General Secretary Lam will co-chair the High-Level Meeting between the Politburo of the CPV Central Committee and the Standing Board of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), and the meeting of the three Party leaders of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos at the invitation of CPP President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh on February 6 morning, beginning their one-day state visit to Cambodia, at the invitation of King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni.

During the visit, General Secretary Lam will co-chair the High-Level Meeting between the Politburo of the CPV Central Committee and the Standing Board of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), and the meeting of the three Party leaders of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos at the invitation of CPP President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

The high-ranking Vietnamese delegation includes Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The visit holds great significance, providing an important opportunity for high-ranking leaders of the two countries to enhance exchanges, consolidate the foundation of political trust, and accelerate the implementation of agreements already reached. It also aims to further deepen the traditional friendship between the two Parties and countries, thereby creating fresh momentum to elevate Vietnam–Cambodia relations to a new height, in line with the aspirations of their peoples and making a positive contribution to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region./.

Party chief meets President of Lao Front for National Development

The VFF and the LFNC need to work closely together to celebrate major holidays and important events of each country, especially in 2027 - the Year of Vietnam - Laos Friendship, which will feature milestones of profound significance, such as the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Vietnam, Laos step up cooperation in combating transnational crime

Building on the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos, the two ministries agreed to effectively implement their 2026 cooperation plan, intensify joint efforts against transnational crime, coordinate drug crime prevention campaigns along the shared border, and continue key projects, including the population management and citizen identification system and the Lao ministry’s security command centre.

Leaders of Vietnam, Laos witness exchange of bilateral cooperation agreements

The documents included a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and Laos’ Ministry of Education and Sports on the establishment of a Vietnamese university in Laos; a handover record of Vietnamese-language textbooks and materials under the project on integrating the history of the special Vietnam–Laos and Laos–Vietnam relationship into school curricula in both countries; the 2026 cooperation programme between the two ministries of justice; and MoUs between Phu Tho province and the Lao provinces of Luang Namtha, Bokeo and Luang Prabang.
