Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong onJune 18 met and congratulated Vietnamese ambassadors and consul-generalsbefore they embark on journeys to start their work overseas for the new2013-16 term.
Trong told the ambassadors andconsul-generals to be well aware of the responsibilities and functionsof Vietnamese representative offices overseas as well as their ownduties to fulfill their work.
He stressed that theambassadors and consul-generals need to understand thoroughly theParty's policies and positions in regard to Vietnam's relations withother countries, which is to remain independent, ready to be friendsand partners with other countries, proactive to integrate into theglobal context and to promote mutually beneficial cooperation withrespect to other countries' internal affairs.
Headded that they need to not only promote the good image of Vietnamto international communities but also offer support to overseasVietnamese to build up their confidence.
On theirpart, the ambassadors and consul-generals promised to work their hardestto deepen Vietnam 's relations with other countries and to extendsupport to Vietnamese overseas.-VNA
