The upholding of great national solidarity has created a strength and a huge momentum for Vietnam's national construction and development, said a senior Party official.

Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), Truong Tan Sang, delivered the message at a conference held in Hanoi on Aug. 14 to review the five-year implementation of a Party resolution on upholding the strength of great national solidarity for the goal of a rich people, a strong country and an equitable, democratic and civilised society.

Since the adoption of the resolution, Vietnam has successfully achieved political stability, economic growth, social progress, national unity and an improved position regionally and globally, he said.

The official emphasised the need to undertake more appropriate solutions and policies to continue bringing into full play the strength of great national solidarity during the new period.

He asked the participants to make suggestions in a bid to further promote national solidarity in the years to come.

In her report, Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet said after five years of implementing the resolution, unity within the Party, the country and the people has been consolidated, thus creating an impetus for the national industrialisation and modernisation process.

Mass mobilisation efforts have made progress, gathering a large number of outstanding people from different ethnic groups and religions both at home and abroad to join the Fatherland Front, mass organisations and patriotic emulation movements, she said.

Khiet went on to say that the role and position of the Fatherland Front and mass organisations have improved, and relations between the people and the Party have been more tightened.

The Party official, however, pointed out limitations in implementing the resolution, emerging issues and experiences to learn from in building up the national great solidarity./.
