(Photo: baogiaothong.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Passengers on an international railway connecting thecapital city of Hanoi and Nanning city in China’s Guangxi Zhuang AutonomousRegion has hit a record high of over 40,000 over the past ten years.
As a measure catering to the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, the train waslaunched on January 1, 2009 to promote exchanges between ASEAN and China.
The train has seen an average annual growth of 20 percent in the number ofpassengers in the past decade, China Railway Nanning Group said.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the rail route stretches 396 kilometres, and asingle journey takes about 12 hours. The train is staffed with attendants whocan speak both Vietnamese and English, besides Chinese. It also offersbroadcasting services in Vietnamese and Chinese.-VNA
