People flock to Hanoi sites during Tet

Crowds of people from all corners of the country and abroad have flocked to Hanoi to pay tribute to Uncle Ho.

According to the mausoleum’smanagement board, nearly 29,000 people, including more than 9,700foreigners, visited the mausoleum on February 10, 12, 13 and 14.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi welcomed close to 20,000 visitors, mostly foreigners, during Tet.

Nguyen Van Son, Director of the Hanoi-Thang Long HeritageConservation Centre , said the centre organised numerous culturalactivities, including an exhibition showcasing ornamental plants andspring flowers, to serve visitors during the first days of the Lunar NewYear.

It has also opened to the public anewly-excavated archaeological site behind the Doan Mon (southern gate)relic. Visitors to the site can see a water supply system and parallelground wall from the time of the Ly dynasty, he added.

On February 15, the Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi opened aspring festival with a wide range of artistic activities and folk games.

The three-day annual event has educated visitorsabout the unique cultural identities of ethnic groups in the mountainousnorthern region, especially Yen Bai province.-VNA
