HCM City (VNA) – The Vietnam–Singapore Friendship Association (VSFA) of Ho Chi Minh City has played an active role in strengthening ties between the two nations by promoting cooperation in culture, education, economy, and trade, serving as an important bridge for people-to-people diplomacy.

At a gathering on August 22 to celebrate the 60th National Day of Singapore (August 9, 1965 – 2025), Lam Dung Tien, Chairman of the VSFA of HCM City, stressed that these activities contribute to enhancing the overall Vietnam–Singapore relationship, while deepening links between the people of HCM City and Singapore in a more practical and sustainable manner.

He reaffirmed that Singapore is one of Vietnam’s most important, comprehensive, and enduring strategic partners, with the two countries standing as sincere friends who share common values of growth and prosperity.

Tien announced that in 2025, the association will introduce the “Singapore–VSIP Business Club” to connect Singaporean entrepreneurs working in VSIP industrial parks with the city’s business community. It will also launch the “Annual Vietnam–Singapore Friendship Day,” featuring cultural, culinary, trade, sports, and educational events to enhance exchanges, particularly among younger generations.

For his part, Singapore’s Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Pang Te Cheng emphasised that the two countries’ relationship has been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with people-to-people diplomacy forming one of its six key pillars.

He noted that organisations such as the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO), VSFA, and the Vietnam–ASEAN Friendship Association (VAFA) of HCM City have contributed greatly to advancing people-to-people ties, as well as to priority areas like innovation and sustainable development.

Pang expressed confidence that the Vietnam–Singapore friendship, strengthened by enduring people-to-people connections, will continue to expand robustly across multiple fields. He affirmed that HUFO, VSFA, and VAFA will remain vital in nurturing this partnership, helping build a brighter and more prosperous future for both nations and their people./.
